All dialogs and scenes remain completely intact in co-op. So yes, you can play the complete story in co-op with the help of a friend. IGN: Will the co-op gameplay now have dialogue during cut scenes (that was sorely missed in the first Vegas)? Cambiotti: As mentioned before, co-op was a major focus for us. This includes adding more skylights so your partner can fast-rope down onto terrorists and multi-level areas that allow your teammates to clear the lower level while you and your Co-op partner take on the terrorists on the upper level. This goes beyond adding a few doors here and there. There are more entry points so that no one is stepping on other's toes. The layouts accommodate more players in a given area. Our maps were designed from the ground up with co-op in mind. This time around we really wanted to put more emphasis on playing co-op. Jean-Pascal Cambiotti: Well, in the first Rainbow Six Vegas (RSV), all levels were created around the SP campaign. This was the entire point to the game for me and I'm 100 percent certain that I'm not alone in that.IGN: Give us an example from the new game that outlines how the structure of a level is geared more towards a co-op experience than what we saw from the first Vegas. After beating the story its all I played.īut seriously, if they had ported the game exactly how it was to pc, even without keyboard and mouse support, I wouldve been more ok with it than with how it is now, with this mode taken out. Not an unreasonable thing at all.įinally, you're comparing a few settings tweaks to the removal of an entire mode. Just for the port to include the same as the original.
It's just ignored.Īnd I'm not asking for an entirely new feature to this game here. You know how many threads there are with people asking for splitscreen or couch coop games in general? There is demand. But a problem with splitscreen was often 'not enough power to render two games at the same time' which really doesn't hold up here. Why do they do it though? Several reasons. All for people who never play with actual people in the same actual room (no offense intended against online players, depending on the game I play online too, but it's beyond BS that good games are exclusively online or single-player (even hardly that often enough) nowadays. Even consoles are drifting away from this whole concept because online only pushes it away. And sorry but in a game as old (looking) as this one, very high framerates really don't matter (to me). They did not have to build it from the ground up.

Remember, you didn't need to give Microsoft $60 a year to play R6V2 online on PC either but this also made a off-line multiplayer experience even more valuable on consoles, where such multiplayer access was otherwise walled off behind an additional paywall.ĭifferent features and limitations for different platforms. But on PC? The PC platform had internet enabled multiplayer down to a science long before the Xbox 360 even existed. Split screen was still expected on consoles, a hold overs from the pre-internet enabled days of Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. If there had been sufficient demand, it would have been there. See Also: the general failure of Steam Machines. When this game was developed and released, split screen simply was not (and even today, largely is not) a feature in-demand on the PC, because so very few PC user are even set up to utilize it.

Back when the Xbox 360 was current gen, playing PC games on a TV just really wasn't a thing it was a niche of a niche. Well, could you adjust mouse sensitivity on the Xbox 360 version? What about the resolution? Could you uncap the frame-rate or run the game at 120 or 144 hertz? No?ĭifferent features and limitations for different platforms. does anyone know why? Doesn't make sense to me at all. only to launch it just now and find out that there is no split-screen in the PC version. Of course it's not the machine's fault, but I bought this game to play it with a friend like old times.
